Idk how else to say it but this is such a conveniently written show. It's not bad per se. It doesn't have a weak story, it doesn't drag, it has its share of drama/sub-plots. But things happen so darn conveniently that it definitely takes away some points from it. Like..everything is just THERE! I just wish it was tied up nicely.
Anyway, the episode was good. Like always so much happened in it. Things shifted to Minahil's house for a bit and GOSH! Her sister Zarnab is SUCH A PAIN! :@ I feel bad for Minahil, really. All she wants is her loved ones to be happy but they are the same people who don't show her any basic courtesy in return. How rude was it for Zarnab to force her to come to the house because she had work in Minahil! SHE IS SUCH A SELFISH BITCH THAT I WISH I COULD SLAP SOME SENSE IN HER! :@ Hadd hoti hai! First, she was crying buckets that Minahil was the reason no one wanted to do rishta with her and now that she is on the verge of getting engaged, mohtarma ko apna koi aashiq yaad agaya and now she wants out from the rishta she was so desperate for in the first place? Seriously! Minahil should just let her be! Itna bhi acha nahin hona chaiye!
Even Minahil's mother doesn't care much about her elder daughter. She comes across as someone who doesn't really love her daughter and it's because of her condition. Her tone would've been hell load different if Minahil was normally wedded in Shahnam's house alongside her husband. But instead of her mother supporting her daughter through a situation where she was entirely blameless, Minahil gets to be treated like a stranger by her own mother! Her father is nice, he at least cares enough to see the big picture and already has made sure that Minahil wouldn't be left with nothing after him. Because Minahil technically will become a yateem in case her father dies. Her siblings wouldn't care because she is married to someone hence not their headache. Her 'husband' hasn't contacted her in years and has nothing nothing good for her. For all of Minahil's sacrificing nature...what she gets in return is so not worth it.
Conveniently this Ibram guy came in the picture. Conveniently he turned out to be Asfand's close friend. Oh so conveniently it was revealed that he wasn't serious about Zarnab. It's like the writer wrote the script saying, "Ab ye daalte hain." and just put it in. Koi build up, koi follow up...kuch hota hai but no...
Like Asfand became so close to Minahil that he started joking with her 5 minutes after apologizing to her, all his saduness gone. Nihaal lowkey proposed to Samiya and unka qissa bhi paar laga. Till last week Asfand hadn't even noticed Minahil and now he has "mohabbat ki tehreer" in his eyes for her? He loved Inaya like crazy and now he's shooting so obvious hearteyes at Minahil who he knows is in someone else's nikaah?
It's not like none of this makes sense. It does! It is the natural progression of the story. But I just wish it was properly placed so that it wouldn't seem unnatural! When everyone else is on the fast lane, Minahil's reaction is the most perfectly balanced. I can't get annoyed at her for hanging on to Shahnam after all this despite waiting for Asfand-Minahil love story to start. I'm just saying that Asfand falling for Minahil could've waited an episode. How can he not question his feelings for someone else when literally like not even a month ago he was depressed about his wife's untimely death? It just doesn't make any sense!!
Vasl e Yaar isn't a bad show! Judging by its pace it might wrap up under the 20 episode mark which is a woohoo moment in itself. But gosh! The script needed some good polishing up before it went to production. In other shows we scream, "Move along! AAGE BADHO!" cuz the story takes forever to unravel. This is one show I keep saying, "Aaraam se..thoda aahista..take some time." It's necessary to show some time establishing because the emotions at play here are so delicate. Aise hi nahin hojata..waqt lagta hai. Poora na dikha do..hint hi de do.
