Ok, I can't resist because I know you're true music lovers and I don't want you to miss out on this. But it's absolutely okay if you don't like it. Just wanted you to hear it. If you do end up liking it, there are 7 more tracks that I've posted above.Originally posted by: LizzieBennet
L. Shankar - and his unique double violin - a 10 ten-string instrument as opposed to a regular violin which has 4 strings - that he designed himself. The kind of bass this produces gives it the depth and gravitas that just gives me goosebumps.
He is just brilliant. Too bad he messed up his own career which could have been glorious had he stuck to doing what he did best. I first heard him as part of John McLaughlin's band Shakti where he played alongside Vikku Vinayakaram and Zakir Hussain.
This raagam, taanam, pallavi in Raagam Aberi just sucks me in. The vibrations of this music - it's all-pervading. Simply genius. And the emotions it evokes. I feel in the pit of my stomach. So powerful.
Listen to this and see if you don't feel the same.
It's in 8 parts - so it requires time and patience to get through. But it's absolutely worth it.
