It's a match featuring common opponents today as India take on USA with the winner confirmed of a place in the Super Eights. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have played together with Saurabh Netravalkar and Harmeet Singh. Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli were once teammates with Milind Kumar - one with Delhi and the other with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Axar Patel and Monank Patel were roommates during age-level tournaments in Gujarat. And today, all these players will be up against each other in an attempt to see their home team win and progress to the next phase of the tournament. New York's Nassau County international cricket stadium has been synonymous with low scores and it'll hope for a better finale before being permanently dismantled. The pitch has proved to be a pacer's dream with even 120 turning out to be match-winning score. India have the advantage of having already played two matches at this venue, but USA are the hosts and they're also coming off two resounding victories in Dallas. Past friendships notwithstanding, it's a winner takes all battle and with the prize being a Super Eight spot, it could well end up to be a tight contest.

Shubha: "The very fact that India defended a low score is promising. It would boost the confidence of the bowling unit manifold" The pitch, as Danyal Rasool wrote, seems to take a personal affront to run-scoring. But then the inconsistency in conditions is levelling the playing field somewhat.

Vishal: "I must say I am loving seeing our men in blue in ALL blue practice kits (with a dash of yellow true) on TV. I love my saffron but only with equal doses of white and green"

ankur baid: "It's really heartwarming to read about current USA players talking with current India player and coach, who they would have meet many years ago, playing for same team. "

Ten minutes away from the toss and Narsima says, "Batting first is advantage for USA. If India bat first, they have to file up more runs to take advantage and win. Then, If USA scores less, their run rate will go down drastically. If USA bat first, India will take light on their batting strength and may score less." India will look to be smart like they did vs Pakistan, where Pant's counterattacked.

Rohit had also said before that game that they will have to hit bowlers off their lengths - something Pakistan didn't do against India. But very unlikely that'll happen today

Another glorious day with hardly any cloud in the sky. We're playing on the same wicket as yesterday, the square boundaries are at 70m and 66m while the straight hit is at 72m. Pretty similar. bowlers will have to hit the hard lengths, batters can't really play the cross-batted shots. The bowlers will look to get the natural variation off a hard length and a back of the length. Chasing is the best way to go, reckon Ebony-Rainford Brent and Steve Smith, in their pitch report
