Gangubai, Heropanti, Something 34....Acharya BO Collection

I don't understand how box office collections are calculated in India because I never really cared about it

Acharya (Telegu) released yesterday and movie received mixed reviews but it collected around 29cr in 2 states (AP+TG) which is being considered a slow start for it, the budget is around 131cr will need 132cr to break even, WW collections are not out yet (Or I don't understand it because I am not fluent in Telugu)

Bollywood collections -

Gangubai - 10cr

Heropanti - 6cr

Runaway 34 - Less than 3cr

How come Hindi belt with 9 States has collection of 9cr rupees for a blockbuster movie when an average to flop Telugu movie is collecting Rs7cr in Nizam alone?

Now, I wonder, was Gangubai a hit?

Heropanti 2 opening has been nothing but disastrous.

The movie has released on Eid when big event films release and it has got an opening of 7 Crores. That's just ridiculous. It shows how far Tiger is from being a Superstar and he doesn't deserve to release his films on such big holidays.

Maybe Bollywood audience after watching RRR and KGF 2 is expecting a bit more quality even from masala movies. They did reject SJ 2, Antim and Bachchan Pandey as well and this movie didn't look any better than that.

As for Gangubai, it does look like an outlier on how all the Hit films post pandemic are action masala movies except this and TKF. We know TKF worked because of the political backing and controversial subject but Gangubai didn't even have that and it was declared a Hit with box office collection of 125 Crores when we still don't know what was exactly it's budget.

Even the opening of 9 Crores is surprising. BP opening was 12 Crores, and Heropanti 2 opening is 6 Crores (with a clash). You're telling me Alia has same star power as Akshay and Tiger who have mass following in single screens to give same level of opening?!

Tiger doesn't have mass following anymore, People who liked him have moved on to Yash and Allu Arjun

According to BOI, budget was 166cr and collection was 125cr, I really don't understand how this movie is a hit, with the kind of buzz around it and celebrations, I had assumed it was a blockbuster, In one thread, I said Alia is bigger star than Ranbir, the way PR messes up with your brain is astonishing, I actually believed that Alia has become this big star who is bringing audience to the theater

Gangubai is a Sanjay Leela Bansali movie like RRR was a Rajamauli movie, collection of RRR is because people went to see movie directed by Bahubali's director

Gangubai was sheer SLB, plus nobody is talking about the budget of the movie

Tiger was/still is popular among the single screen mass audience. But the problem is that audience has been quite influenced in the last two years during lockdown by social media into believing that anything that comes out of BW is shit. So unless BW comes up with something unique yet massy, they will keep suffering.

Previously that set of audience didn't had access to social media, so they used to grab whatever came up their way. Now they watch dubbed south movies in YouTube, which are generally superior to BW maslaa movies. So even their expectations have risen.

Plus Tiger is doing shit movies after shit movies, and you don't survive doing same thing, and especially if it is boring and crap.

If Tiger was popular among the masses, you'd see them flocking to the theater, if they have been influenced it means he is not as popular as he was before which is correct because my nephew dragged me to watch Baaghi 3 with his friends, now he couldn't care less about Tiger, its not that they have been influenced against Bollywood, they just don't want to watch bad movies.....they are going to the theater for larger than life experience...but again, Acharya got mixed reviews and it collected 29cr in two states

Rs29cr is a "decent" opening for tollywood audience and they are trolling it like anything but Bollywood was celebrating a Rs9cr opening

I checked collection and budget today, they had me believing that the movie did wonders at box office, tells you how they do better job at PR than making movies

Bhansali is nowhere Rajamouli. Rajamouli's hype different level due to Baahubali. Gangubai collected approx 200crrs worldwide. If you are going by budget then take worldwide collection as well.

Anyways hit flop is not with budget but due to distribution cost and share. Other ways of earning is music, satellite rights etc.

As far as Tiger he have good following but if he keeps making movies like heropanti2, 3 and so on with pathetic directors like Ahmed Khan he will keep losing that fan following as well
