Even in the pics posted above, I don't see the resemblance and that Gangu doesn't look like a teen either

People here just need a reason to bash alia. Same story in raazi trailer thread. And same will happen in any of future movies alia is going to do.

Even before i opened the thread knew what comments are going to be. What about so and so actress doesn't matter if the said actress could not have pulled off a 16 year old. Alia looks like a child does not matter if the character she portray was actually just a teenager when she was pushed into prostitution. Blah blah blah.

Exactly. Alia nailed it and as you correctly said, she has allowed her performance to shine through without getting overwhelmed by the SLB paraphernalia and sets and grandeur. Even SRK struggled with the SLB excess, gripping as his take on Devdas was.

On topic: About Alia's acting, I think it's okay.

If we will just seek appearance, then Alia can never play any biography!! Her body would never be perfect for anybody else other than exactly her lookalikes.

If she can make Gangubai's vulnerability, her attitude believable, then it is fine..I don't think seduction and all that are needed in this story.. She was forced in that place, so it may jump from vulnerable to mature, strong demeanour directly!

No matter what people say about Alia. Her stardom and rise is one the reasons Bollywood is in the worst phase right now. The industry is going thru an all time low because of her snatching opportunities and throwing her weight around to get roles.

Even if she acts well, I can’t ever respect her the same way I respect other actresses who have actually struggled and put in the hard work.

Not much info avail about her, no pics except one ftom old age, the one young age pic - not sure it's authentic

And that Nehru story? No record of that except in that book... Amazing if it's true... She must've been only in her early 20s then...
