Because its not the director's money at stake.. Its not the director who loses his money.. Its the producers.. they have all the right to play it safe

if the director is so confident of an actor, he can take his project to someone willing to take that sort of risk

"Bombay Velvet was expensive from the beginning. It is the most tight budget film of my career. It is a Rs 300 crore movie that we have made into Rs 90 crore. I wanted someone who was not only a good actor but also made it possible for me to raise that kind of money," Mr Kashyap told PTI.

"My first choice when I wrote the film in 2006 was Saif Ali Khan. From there it went to Aamir and Hrithik. This film has gone around before landing with Ranbir. We also tried to make it with Ranveer Singh but we could raise only Rs 40 to 50 crore," he added.

The budget of ramleela was 80 crs, ten crore less than BV, and that went on to be a hit, and ranveer does deserve credit for its success, then slb went on to make BM which had a budget of 120 crore

I guess slb had more faith in ranveer than others did

Agar 'Ranveer Singh' woh ghatiya film karleta toh uska career wahi ka wahi finish ho jaata. He's lucky. It's his win.

Good for him. He put HIS money on him and it paid off. Anurag could to the same thing too but he didnt.

Did anybody bother to watch the actual video? Its MUCH more than the petty Ranveer- Ranbir thing guys. I am still watching it but loving the way Anuraag is trying to explain the workings of the actual Bollywood, in a very polite and lucid manner.

Ranveer wasnt a big star in 2013, so its understandable if producers wanted to cast a saleable actor..Ranbir was high from the success of Barfi nd YJHD..both commercial nd critical success. Its a no brainer really.

And for the NTH time Ranveer Singh is not an outsider Lmao..the TM can try as much..

I have said several times, I am not discussing whether he is an outsider or not, that isnt the point of this thread or previous threads.

except SLB always managed to put a more successful actress to act opposite him so the movies were never riding solely on him.

Deepika was sightly more successful And Bebo was huge

Even Padmavati had Deepika on every poster and the surprise was in the movie itself. They sold the movie on Deepika’s back. Why? If the movie was Ranveer’s show?

With BV it would have been Ranveer/Anushka? How does that work?

He was treated unfairly but in the end had the last laugh
