Lol I have never heard anyone call Bengali a North Indian. Thats an ignorant lot. Bengali ,Gujju,Rajasthani,Maharashtrians are called so mostly instead of East n West Indians.

Baap re. I have. All my life. Grew amidst south Indians and was kept being called North Indians all the time. A big part of my growing up years (even till college) went into either educating some that I am from east India not North or went into replying the biggest query- why do you call yourself East Indian when you are from West Bengal. Even when chapters of parition were right there in the history text books. 🤦‍♂️

Tune kuch din pehle khudko Baghmara, Meghalaya se bataya tha, Aab west Bengal who spent his whole life with South Indians.
