DCH was meant for metro cities' and elite class audiences and it was a success there, it recovered all of its budget and made some profit as well.
An uber urban movie like dch was never meant to do great business in villages and small centres where the audience can never possibly get its sensibility to begin with.
Also why TZP is mentioned. It was a clean SUPER HIT at the boxoffice, audience from all classes loved it and made it a huge hit statue.
TZP was one rare movie that was loved by masses, classes and critics alike, so I dont understand its name been mentioned where audience dont deserve it, while the audience made it a huge success.
Swades was too long, slow and way too too preachy, it never meant to set the boxoffice on fire, regardless of any release date.

One thing i want to add about Swades is that, although it bounded the story well, means it was an interesting watch, but it was not an entertaining movie by any strerch of the imagination, and audience needs entertainment on the big screen to make a movie hit.
There is a huge difference between an interesting movie and an entertaining movie.
Anjaam is the prime example, a very well made movie, interesting but not entertaining enough just like swades, hence flopped.
And as stated before, way too preachy with lots of in your face lectures injected inside throughout the movie, way too long and slow paced, great film nonetheless but not something that was bound to set the boxoffice on fire.
