Isnt that happening with Ash and Ranbir? In Karan's movie?
And it is ridiculous that it is made about an older woman and a younger man. There is not even 10 years between Ranbir and Ash and the story is of a younger guy and older woman. It shouldn't be that way. The difference between Kajol and SRK is greater than that and they have been pairing off romantically for decades quite successfully. In an alternate universe, Ranbir and Ash were to marry in real life, it would still be Ranbir marrying up. But because it is BW, because the woman is older, it is ok to be compared to a film where the difference in 30 years and the visual effect is hurl worthy while we are supposed to accept a woman who looks like Sonam, Deepika or Kat will fall head over heals with men who look like the Khans as the norm. I never realized the visual impact of how jarring it is until I watched Baji Rao and Fitoor. In Dilwale Kajol and SRK looked so good together while I have always felt like rescuing Deepika from him. The concept is 80s Telugu industry where 18 year old Sridevi was paired with oldies like ANR and Rajni was actually paired with women who acted as his daughter in a Tamil movie. 🤔. But short of boycotting BW I cannot do anything. But where is the line ? 20 years ? 30 years difference between males and females is ok, but if it is reverse it is *because the script calls for it*. BS !
Shradda looks like a Desi Disney Princess anyway, so unless this movie is a remake of beauty and the beast or a film with a script like the Human Stain with Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins where the woman is in an unequal relationship with the man, in which universe can I accept a girl who looks like Shradda will accept a man who looks like Sanju at his age. Unless he plays a billionaire like Trump in which case the story becomes a gold digger story. Even Edward Cullen who was 100 something looked like a teenager. 😆
I want Sanju to act too, he is talented and I have always wondered what career he would have had like RDJ because of his personal issues. But use a proper heroine of a similar age like Gwyneth or Rachel McAdams is for RDJ. I have never not gone to an SRK movie, but instead of ranting on a message board perhaps I should put money where my mouth is and not go to a movie where the age gap of the heroines and heros is too much starting with the SRK-Alia one. I maybe one of a few, but if enough people not go and the movie is a flop, then this trend will die because the only currency BW understands is BO.
