But Ash just won't listen

Mani Ratnam is an exacting taskmaster and everyone who's worked with him knows that.

For Raavan, Mani instructed Ash to keep minimal make-up for her look in the second half. However, sources reveal that Ash doesn't quite agree with Mani.

Raw look chahiye

As per the script, after Abhishek abducts her, Ash's character undergoes a major transformation. Her look also changes as per the story line.

A source adds, "Mani wants to showcase her character without make-up in the second half.

He believes that since she's separated from her husband, the raw look is important to express the loss and pain she's going through."

Even though she has been given very clear instructions Ash managed to put on basic make-up and land up on the set.

"There were times when Ash would sneak and put basic make-up and only then, do the shot.

Mani would spot the slightest sliver of make-up and would ask her to go back and remove it."

The source adds that the make-up issue became a major issue on the set with neither Ash nor Mani backing down from their position.

"Ash didn't want to go in for a total raw look. She wanted to use minimal make up, but Mani was against that as well."

I dont think this is true. I have seen she is so professional and she has done som many non makeup films such as chokher Bali, raincoat, guru, provoked and many more. I think how they have said lies about hritiks marriage, so now they are upto ASH!

I dont think ASH would have any problems with the no-make-up look..she has done alot of films without make-up...no big issue for her...media jst couldnt think of anything else...so raised this stupid issue..non-sense..

I agree with hirisgr8 and komalash! Ash has done no make up films before, so why wouldn't she do it now! All just rumors!!

MR doesn't want her to even put on minimal makeup..ie, an even foundation-deprived look. Ash's worn all that and definitely much more in all the movies you've mentioned.The news is true, many leading sites've mentioned it.
