The first episode of Qubool Hai (a Muslim social
drama) will be aired on Zee TV from October 29th. The show will be aired from
Monday to Friday in the 9:30pm slot. Phir Subah Hogi which is currently being
telecast at 9:30pm will be shifted to the 11pm slot. The press conference for
this show was held at The Leela on October 15th.
Sukesh Motwani, Fiction Head of Zee TV said, "Religion isn't the focal point of this show. This is by no means My Name is Khan. Set in a Muslim milieu it is the story of a culture which is so rich yet misunderstood the most. Muslims from all over the world have a long history of making significant contributions to the society. They are diverse in nature, enriched with rich literature, music and language heritage that has a profound impression on all of us."
Explaining the title, Gul Khan from Four Lions Production said, "Qubool Hai is about a journey of life, its trials and tribulations and acceptance of one's fate. It is said that God gives us the strength to change what we can and the courage to accept what we can't...some have the courage to accept what we can't ...some have it and some don't have it in them to accept the change...but eventually the journey to accept what God has given us is the essence of Qubool Hai."
The protagonist of the show is a very young and dynamic Zoya, a young and pretty Muslim lady with a very modern outlook. Gul explains, "This show is a life changing experience for me as I aim to make Zoya an epitome for young Muslim women who do not see them being represented positively on the small screen. Despite the control and authority that has been imposed by some narrow minded elements of Islam, I will showcase a more universal approach where women and minorities are regarded as equal and Zoya represents it."
The marketing campaign which will launch around Qubool Hai aims at changing the perception of Indian women in contemporary times through the eyes of Zoya. Not only does this marketing campaign intend to tap Muslim viewers in the key markets of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh but it is also to open a window to understand their culture and societal pressures in a very refreshing way. This show stars Karan Singh Grover, Surbhi Jyoti, Rishab Sinha, Vaquar Shaikh, Tej Sapru, Shalini Kapoor Sagar and Nehalaxmi Iyer in pivotal roles. Qubool Hai is co-produced by Divine Multimedia. The Creative Producer of the show is veteran TV script writer Mrinal Jha.
