Try to imagine a Bollywood flick without music? It's practically impossible. From creating the mood of love, to building of tension, music is fundamental in our showbiz. Many flavors have influenced the charts but the popularity of Punjabi music is now not just confined to northern India. Over the years, Punjabi songs have evolved around Bollywood, making music all the more interesting and addictive to listen to. So without any further adieu, here's the Punjabi DJ presenting to you those Bollywood tracks which have a really good blend of Punjabi melodies, beats and lyrics!
"Ainvayi Ainvayi" - Band Baaja Baraat
With
some foot-tapping choreography, this fast-paced dance number has the
eye appealing pair of Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh dancing to
Salim-Sulaiman's composition. Sang by Salim Merchant and Sunidhi
Chauhan, it has some basic yet catchy Punjabi lyrics to make the song
sound more like one being played at fully-tuned Punjabi wedding. During
it's reign, the soundtrack had listeners of all age groups grooving on
the floor.
"Maahi Ve" - Kal Ho Na Ho
This
track is very much like a party song and features a dozen of biggies
such as Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol Devgn, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali
Khan dancing to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's tunes. The song is rendered by
Sadhana Sargam, Sujata Bhattacharya, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan and
Shankar Mahadevan himself. It expresses the electrifying pre-wedding
drama and celebrations, which makes it a perfect combo to be played at a
party or a wedding.
"Mauja Hi Mauja" - Jab We Met
The
lively vocals by Mika Singh can get everyone off their seats and on the
dance floor. Pritam's catchy composition, energetic beats and Shahid
Kapoor - Kareena Kapoor's hot jodi keeps the pace going and makes
it a favorite dance number for everyone. There's not one in the world
who does not know at least one dance step from the number.
"Jogi Mahi" - Bachna Ae Haseeno
Vishal-Shekhar's refreshing bhangra tune
"Jogi Mahi" emotes everlasting love as Ranbir Kapoor and Minissha
Lamba's twists n' turns come along in Sukhwinder Singh and Himani
Kapoor's vocals. Both deliver a classy traditional Punjabi track for the
movie with lots of drumming and bhangra dance.
"Gal Meethi Meethi" - Aisha
This
Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor starrer has Amit Trivedi's music and Tochi
Raina's voice behind the mike. The track has new aged Punjabi beats with
folk flavors embedded into it. It's a perfect blend of Punjabi tunes
and their trendy melodies. Listeners must also watch out for the classy
dance by both the stars.
Be
it a marriage or a party, the urge of dancing to Punjabi songs is long
known. With such influences, Bollywood is surely adapting to the trend
of experimenting with folk music and encouraging broader scope for
better music in the industry. If you're a Punjabi songs fan, this DJ
demands that you tune into these tracks and go gaga over the bhangra!
