Twenty years after its initial release, Yash Chopra's timeless romantic epic Veer-Zaara continues to make waves, extending the legendary filmmaker's legacy. Originally released in 2004, the film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, has now surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark globally following its recent re-release. The enduring cross-border love story has been captivating audiences once again, as seen in the latest box office numbers.

According to trade expert Taran Adarsh, Veer-Zaara brought in Rs 20 lakh on Friday (September 13), followed by Rs 32 lakh on Saturday, Rs 38 lakh on Sunday, and continued its strong showing throughout the week, grossing Rs 20 lakh on Monday, Rs 18 lakh on Tuesday, Rs 15 lakh on Wednesday, and Rs 14 lakh on Thursday. This brought its domestic collection to Rs 1.57 crore for the re-release. Additionally, the film earned Rs 0.23 crore internationally, bringing its recent re-release total to Rs 1.80 crore. Earlier this year, during a re-release in February, it collected Rs 0.30 crore. Combined with its initial earnings of Rs 61 crore in India and Rs 37 crore internationally in 2004, as well as an additional Rs 2.50 crore accumulated over the years, Veer-Zaara now stands at a remarkable Rs 102.60 crore globally.

The film's success received a further boost due to National Cinema Day on September 20, when theaters offered tickets at a discounted price of Rs 99. This, in turn, is expected to have caused a rise in viewership for the iconic film.

Veer-Zaara, produced by Yash Raj Films, revolves around a poignant love story between an Indian Air Force officer (played by Shah Rukh Khan) and a Pakistani woman (portrayed by Preity Zinta), who comes to India to fulfill her late grandmother's last wish. Tragedy strikes when Shah Rukh's character is falsely accused of espionage and imprisoned in Pakistan. Years later, a lawyer, played by Rani Mukerji, takes up his case, leading to a reunion between the star-crossed lovers.

This film marked Yash Chopra's third collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan after their earlier successes with Darr (1993) and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). The movie also featured an ensemble cast including Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Kirron Kher, Anupam Kher, and Divya Dutta.

Veer-Zaara's continued success highlights its timeless appeal, with its themes of love, sacrifice, and unity resonating with audiences even after two decades.
