‘We Laughed about you Dying’, Angrezi Medium Director Homi Adajania’s Moving Note for Irrfan Khan

Directed by Homi Adajania and produced under the production banner Maddock Films, Angrezi Medium marked the spin-off to the 2017 comedy Hindi Medium and starred Irrfan Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, and Radhika Madan. 

 Angrezi Medium marked Irrfan’s last film before he succumbed to cancer on Wednesday. He had announced his neuroendocrine tumour back in  2018. Recently, he was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and was under observation for colon infection. However, the actor struggled through the battle and finally gave up. Irrfan passed away at the age of 54.

Irrfan’s Angrezi Medium director Homi Adajania shared an endearing picture with the late actor on his social media. Homi also penned an emotional note that reads:

We laughed about you dying... in fact we often abused your “uninvited guests” .... but I didn’t think I’d feel so fuckin broken when I heard what I was expecting to hear for a while now. I am eternally grateful for walking a few steps of your journey with you. I am eternally grateful that I could call myself your friend. I am eternally grateful for memories stuffed with so much joy, so much laughter in such little time. You once told me how you had an inexplicable love for your craft, but didn’t want the stardom anymore. Well, you never needed to be a star my friend, because you shone brighter than anything in the universe. ???? RIP #irrfan

Radhika Madan, who played daughter to Irrfan in the film also poured in her condolences. She shared three pictures with Khan and wrote: 

I dont know what to say... my heart aches when i write this. He was one of the strongest people i knew, a fighter.I am really grateful that our paths crossed in this lifetime. He is and will always be an inspiration to me and many.A legend. The man who changed the wave of the indian film industry.May his soul rest in peace. Love you irrfan sir. It was a privilege knowing you.??

Meanwhile, Irrfan’s last rites took place at Versova Kabarastan in the presence of his family and close friends.
