Wasn't considering Kangana for 'Kites': Anurag Basu (Film Snippets)

New Delhi, May 13 (IANS) Kangana Ranaut may be his lucky mascot, but director Anurag Basu wasn't keen on casting her in his much-talked about international love story 'Kites'.

New Delhi, May 13 (IANS) Kangana Ranaut may be his lucky mascot, but director Anurag Basu wasn't keen on casting her in his much-talked about international love story 'Kites'.

'I was not considering Kangana at all for this film ('Kites') because she has done big and meaty roles. I couldn't tell her that 'Kangana you are my lucky mascot, please do this film',' Basu told IANS.

Kangana, however, didn't have any apprehension in doing a cameo in the film that stars Hrithik Roshan and Mexican actress Barbara Mori.

'I was the one who gave her a break (in 'Gangster - A Love Story') and she is a very good friend of mine. She knew the length of the role and she still wanted to be a part of the film. Her role is like a guest appearance and that is what has also been credited for her in the film,' he added.

The film is hit the screens May 21.

Shahid Kapoor won't mind singing in films

Amitabh Bachchan has done it. So has Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Neil Nitin Mukesh and now Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor says he wouldn't mind singing in a film, if required.

'I don't do things just because others are doing it. I don't think I am a great singer... may be that's why they have a playback singer for every film of mine. But if a situation comes which requires that (singing) from an actor, I'll do it. Though nothing of that sort seems to be coming as of now,' Shahid told IANS.

But at the same time he feels the industry is full of talented singers.

'There are so many people who can sing better than me, so why to spoil a song?'

'Krantiveer' sequel pushed back, releases June 25

'Krantiveer - The Revolution', a sequel to Mehul Kumar's 1994 'Krantiveer', has been pushed back by two weeks for a June 25 release from its scheduled date of June 13 due to technical reasons.

'We needed more time for publicity and marketing and that's the reason we have pushed the film ahead by two weeks,' Kumar, who has directed the sequel, said in a statement.

'We are not in competition with any of the bigger films, but we preferred a gap instead of coming at the tailend of a bigger movie,' added Kumar.

'Krantiveer - The Revolution' is preceded by big budget outings like 'Raajneeti' and 'Raavan' on June 4 and June 18 respectively.

The original 1994 'Krantiveer' starred Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia and both reprise their roles in the sequel.

The film also itroduces Kumar's daughter Jahan Baloch in the role of Nana Patekar's fiery daughter. She plays a journalist who raises her voice against terrorism, violence and corruption.

Also starring in the movie are Ranjeet, Farida Jalal, Govind Namdeo, Mukesh Tiwari and Aman Verma.
