We have had many instances of B-town celebs who keep contributing their bit for the betterment of the society. Earlier, it was Nana Patekar who gave his tremendous support for drought hit farmers through his NGO 'NAAM Foundation'. Now, joining the lead is actor Vivek Oberoi who has raised his concern for educating girls in the society.
According to a report in a leading daily, Vivek has been working towards girl's education through his NGO 'Devi' as he strongly supports the need for it. The actor has now introduced a scholarship for girls from St. Lawrence School in Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir.
The scholarship has been named after his daughter, Ameyaa Nirvana Oberoi and wife Priyanka Alva Oberoi. The scholarship aims at providing with higher education to eight to ten girls each year which would include all their housing and medical expenses.
A source was quoted in the report saying that, "After meeting the girls, and understanding their potential, Vivek decided to sponsor their higher education. He immediately told the school authorities about this plan". [sic]
Also, Vivek was quoted saying that, "Every girl deserves the right to pursue their dream. If education can help these girls soar, I want to give them these wings". [sic]
Well, we must say that this great initiative by Vivek is really appreciable.
