Last year, veteran actor Jeetendra was accused of sexual assault by his 47-year old cousin. She had claimed that the incident took place on the night of 1971 when she was 18 and Jeetendra was 28. However, the Himachal Pradesh High Court has quashed the FIR against the actor filed on February 16, 2018.
On Monday, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, in his 26-page judgment, said that the complaint against the actor appears to be "vague" and "inherently absurd". This seems to be a false claim due to the cousin’s daughter was rejected from a role after auditioning at the actor’s home production house Balaji Motion Pictures.
“This lends credibility to the contention that the lodging of the FIR was an act of mala fide and a result of the daughter of his cousin having been rejected,” the court explained.
The contents of the complaint are "vague". They lead to the conclusion that the allegations are "so absurd and inherently improbable, on the basis of which, no prudent person can ever reach a just conclusion that there is sufficient ground for proceeding against the accused", the judge said.
