Currently, Varun Dhawan is shooting for his upcoming film Coolie No 1. But, while performing a stunt on the outskirts of Pune on Sunday, a report in Mid Day claimed that he nearly escaped death. It also suggested that the actor was stuck inside a car hanging off a cliff, and the doors were jammed; this could have been really fatal.
The report quoted an onlooking saying, "After Varun filmed his shot, he realized that the car door was jammed and wouldn't budge."
The Kalank actor was shooting a heavy-duty stunt which required his close up shots while being stuck inside the car hung upside down from a cliff.
The witness further said, "Even though the stunt was rehearsed several times under the supervision of the stunt coordinators and all the safety precautions were employed by the director (David Dhawan), things, unfortunately, went awry.”
Varun kept his calm throughout the episode, and finally, escaped unhurt with the help of one of the stunt coordinators.
“What followed was a few minutes of dread as the stunt coordinators tried to get him out of the vehicle. It was proving to be all the more difficult given how precariously the car was balanced on the edge" added the witness.
Coolie No 1 is the remake of the 1995 film of the same name, which starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead role and it will be released on May 1, next year.
The film will also star Paresh Rawal. Talking about the same David Dhawan was quoted by Hindustan Times saying “Kader Khan was outstanding, but Paresh is a great actor and I am sure he will portray the character differently.”
