Urmila Matondkar, Mohsin Akhtar Mir headed for divorce? Reports suggest split not on 'mutual terms'

When Urmila Matondkar married Mohsin Akhtar Mir onMarch 3, 2016, everyone got quite a shock. No one knew that she was dating the Kashmiri model and businessman who is a decade younger to her. The nuptials happened on the terrace of her Bandra home. Now, a leading newspaper has reported that she has filed for divorce. It seems after deliberating over it for months, Urmila Matondkar has decided to end her marriage. The source told the paper, “She has already filed for divorce in court. While the reason behind the separation is still not known, the divorce isn’t happening on mutual terms.”

Urmila Matondkar had earlier said that she felt getting married was a responsibility towards one’s own self. She said she wanted to tie the knot forthe right reasons. The actress said human beings do not get to choose their parents but selecting a spouse is very much in their hands. Urmila Matondkar said that marriage means making space in your heart and life for one more person. She said the ideal relationship is one where you evolve as a person,and become a better version of yourself in all aspects. Urmila Matondkar said that marriage should also bring growth in a person’s life.

The actress had said that Mohsin Akhtar Mir was very supportive of her political career. She said her husband encourages her to speak her mind, and made her a fearless woman. Urmila had told Pinkvilla, “So, like I said, after being into a blessed daughter, I am a blessed wife and a daughter-in-law.”

The two had met for the first time the wedding of Manish Malhotra’s niece in 2014. It seems they became friends instantly. Mohsin Akhtar Mir is into the clothing business and deals with the best of Kashmiri handloom. The actress is yet to confirm or deny this news.
