There has been a multitude of songs throughout the years that have been used in religious occasions; to remember God, to thank Him. Countless songs to celebrate events such as Diwali, Janmashtmi, Ganesh Chaturthi and every other festival known in the human calender.

The last few years have been no different.

From OMG! Oh My God's "Go Go Govinda" to Krrish 3's "Raghupati Raghav", the praise to the Almighty has been present in Bollywood's music. These songs go on to become hits, not just because of the energetic beats or catchy lyrics, but because there is devotional aspect behind them that tugs at the hearts of everybody who hears them.

Other recent songs that have caught on are Love Breakup Zindagi's "Rab Rakha", which is a slow and sweet song, ABCD's "Sadda Dil Vi Tu (Ga Ga Ga Ganpati)", which is a fast-paced dance number, both versions of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi's "Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai", essentially love songs to a person, but also includes an affinity to God.

Each mention of God in a song turns the song from something that could be shallow and simple, to something so much more meaningful and expressive. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani's "Suban Allah" and Teri Meri Kahaani's "Allah Jaane" are prime examples of that.

However, these are just a glimpse of the songs that make mention of God, mention of thanking Him for life and love and everything we have to hold dearly. These are some of my favorites, ones I can listen to repeatedly.
