When actor Sumeet Vyas and the team of 'The Viral Fever' came up with the web-series, 'Permanent Roommates', the web scenario was taken by storm. Touted as one of the best Indian web shows, Permanent Roommates came up with the second season which was loved and adored equally.
And now the Tvf team and Sumeet Vyas are back with yet another offering, 'Tripling.' Cutting right to the chase, are you aware of the car, Tiago? The one by Tata Company Pvt. Ltd. The one which has Messi as its brand ambassador.
Arggh! Anyway if you still don't know, which one; the trailer of 'Tripling' would convincingly make you aware of it. While, we have seen some real examples of product placement in the past in various shows, this is the last thing you can expect from a TVF show.
Of course, they are sponsoring, that's how the finances work, but such in-the-face promotion is not a pleasant surprise.
What is it about?
The story is about three siblings, Chandan (Summet Vyas), Chanchal (Maanvi Gagroo) and Chatvan (Amol Parashar) who are contrasting personalities and are thrown together for an impromptu road trip. While one has several memories and prerequisites pertaining a road trip and the fun associated with it, not many can really relate siblings and a road trip together.
What follows is a series of adventures and unanticipated occurrences that will test the trio's togetherness. Fun, hatred, love, madness and many more is what constitutes the story of 'Tripling.'
The cast
Sumeet Vyas plays a man, Chandan who is going through major crisis where he is homeless and going through a divorce. Sumeet's screen presence is a treat in itself. Apart from his lightning presence and acting prowess, he plays a fine narrator too.
Maanvi Gagroo plays the neglected child amongst the three, Chanchal, who wants her voice to be heard and ends up in unwanted problems. Maanvi was a delight in 'Pitchers' and we hope she continues the same here too.
Amol Parashar plays the fun-loving and free-spirited DJ and has the most to exploit as a character amongst the trio. Amol has been doing notable roles lately and this is a good shift to be watching him as a spoilt brat-cum-boy-next-door.
The rest of the ensemble includes Kunaal Roy Kapur, Kumud Mishra and Shernaz Patel where Kunaal's character seems to be powerful and the fantastic actor he is, we can be rest assured for another amazing performance.
The Verdict
The trailer is refreshing and has some moments which surely catches your attention. Given the starcast, the acting department is safe, however, we certainly hope it is not going to be another 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' or 'The Hangover' or even an amalgamation of the two (as expressed by Sumeet in the trailer himself). The reason we worry about this is because a road trip is overly exploited with the same treatment repeatedly and we hope that isn't the case with this one.
