Maddock Films' much-anticipated horror-comedy, Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is all set to hit the big screens this month, and the excitement among fans is palpable. As the film inches closer to its release, it has successfully passed the censorship process, securing a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This certification means that the film is suitable for all audiences, but parents are advised to exercise discretion for viewers under the age of 12.
The CBFC, requested only two minor audio modifications. According to reports, the changes involve the removal of references to certain celebrities and the muting of a mention of a national monument. These adjustments were deemed necessary by the board's Examine Committee, who found the original content potentially inappropriate. Notably, the film's visual content remains untouched, with no cuts requested for action, horror, or intimate scenes—a relief for the filmmakers who aim to preserve the film's creative integrity.
Clocking in at 149 minutes and 29 seconds, Stree 2 promises to deliver a thrilling and entertaining experience, much like its predecessor. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film is a sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Stree, which was a game-changer for horror-comedy in Bollywood and laid the foundation for Dinesh Vijan's successful Horror-Comedy Universe. This cinematic universe has since expanded to include other hits like Bhediya and Munjya.
The limited advance booking for Stree 2 has already begun, with full-fledged pre-sales expected to start soon. The film is scheduled to have special night shows on August 14, building up to its nationwide release on August 15, 2024. However, the film's release won't be without competition, as it is set to clash with Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa at the box office.
Fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting Stree 2, not just for its spine-chilling yet humorous narrative but also for the return of beloved characters. With its unique blend of horror and comedy, the film is expected to replicate the success of its predecessor, offering audiences a perfect mix of scares and laughs.
