Stree 2

Stree 2, the much-anticipated horror comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has taken the box office by storm. The film has grossed over Rs 500 crore worldwide, marking a historic achievement. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, Stree 2 is the sequel to the 2018 hit Stree. With such massive success, discussions about credit distribution have naturally surfaced.

Aparshakti Khurana, who plays the role of Bittu in the film, recently addressed this ongoing credit war. In an interview with Zoom, when asked about Shraddha Kapoor receiving the lion's share of the credit for the film's success, Aparshakti commented, "Main ispe kuch bolunga, baat khulegi toh door tak jaayegi, main kuch bolna nahin chahunga, audience jo kahe wo sahi hai." His statement suggests a complex behind-the-scenes scenario, hinting at a potential power struggle regarding who gets acknowledged for the film’s tremendous success.

Aparshakti also touched on the public relations aspect of the movie's success. He mentioned that while the film is indeed raking in money, there's a "PR game" at play, aimed at "upping and downing somebody." This statement sheds light on the sometimes competitive nature of the film industry, where the race for credit can overshadow genuine appreciation for a project’s success.

The film, which released on August 15, faced competition from Nikkhil Advani’s Vedaa, starring Sharvari and John Abraham, and Mudassar Aziz’s Khel Khel Mein, featuring Akshay Kumar. However, Stree 2 outperformed both, becoming the highest-grossing film among the three.

Maddock Films shared the record-breaking numbers on their X (formerly Twitter) page, revealing that the film earned Rs 426 crore in India and Rs 78.5 crore overseas. The domestic net collection stands at Rs 361 crore, solidifying its position as a blockbuster.

Critics have praised the performances of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, highlighting their chemistry as one of the franchise's strongest points. Despite some fans wanting more screen time for Shraddha, her action sequences and Rajkummar's versatile performance have been widely appreciated.
