In an exclusive interview with India Forums, talented singer Sudhir Yaduvanshi opened up about his latest projects, including the LGBTQ-themed film Amar Prem Ki Prem Kahani and the upcoming web series Taaza Khabar 2. Known for his soulful voice and dynamic performances, the singer also shared his thoughts on the growing craze for international concerts, Bollywood's remix culture, and the future of his music. Here’s what he had to say:

1. Your latest song features in the LGBTQ-themed film Amar Prem Ki Prem Kahani. Can you tell us a bit about the song and how you got involved in this project?

Ah, Amar Prem Ki Prem Kahani—what a beautiful project! The song I did for this film is called Cha Chadheya, and it’s a pure, heartfelt love song. It’s all about longing, that deep desire to be with someone who means the world to you. Love is love, no matter who it’s between, and this song reflects that universal emotion.

As for how I got involved, it’s one of those magical moments. I sent my vocal samples to the composer, Prasad Shaste sir, who noticed a certain softness in my voice that matched the feel of the song. Even though I’m often called for powerful, high-energy tracks, Prasad sir saw something different, something emotional. That’s what I love about this industry—you never know what new door will open. And honestly, this song gave me a chance to really connect with a new side of myself as an artist. It’s bold, it’s honest, and I’m proud to be part of a project that celebrates love in all its forms.

2. How do you think music can impact the representation and acceptance of LGBTQ+ themes in mainstream cinema?

Music has this magical way of pulling at your heartstrings, right? When it comes to LGBTQ+ themes in cinema, it’s like the ultimate game-changer. A killer soundtrack can turn a love story or an identity struggle into something everyone feels, no matter who they are. Music doesn’t just support the story—it makes people feel the emotions, breaking down barriers without them even realizing it. So, when you blend the right tunes with LGBTQ+ stories in movies, you’re not just making hits—you’re making hearts open up, one catchy chorus at a time!

3. You’ve also sung for the web series Taaza Khabar 2. How does working on a series differ from creating music for films?

There’s a bit of a difference between doing a song for web series and movies—web series just give you a little more creative freedom. And this time, the track I sang with my bro, IP Singh, is a reimagined version of a traditional folk Sufi song. Our whole plan was to give it a fresh twist, and by God’s grace, we nailed it!

I’m beyond happy because working with Bhuvan bhai feels like a dream come true. We’ve watched him go from zero to hero, and it’s been inspiring to be part of that journey. This was a completely different experience compared to movie tracks, and I’ve gotta say, I had a blast singing this one!

4. You must have heard about the frenzy for the Coldplay concert in India. What are your thoughts on why international singers and bands attract more audiences than many Indian singers?

Yeah, I’d definitely enjoy going to a Coldplay concert—who wouldn’t love that vibe? But honestly, I’m not too keen on spending that much money. I’d rather watch a live stream, get the same thrill without emptying my wallet!

But seriously, I really want to see that kind of craziness for Indian indie artists too. Like, if people can go wild for Coldplay, why not for our own talent? Otherwise, we might just start throwing on some British accents and fancy jackets ourselves!

5. What is your take on Bollywood’s fascination with recreating and remixing old songs? Is there any lack of creativity?

Bollywood’s craze for recreating and remixing old songs—my take is that there’s no lack of creativity. It’s actually become a trend. People enjoy nostalgia—just like we love remembering the old days, listening to old songs brings a special feeling too.

But yes, it’s not necessary to remix every song. Sometimes, I feel like we should just leave the classics as they are, so their original magic remains. But if a remake is done well, with some new elements, then it can shine in a fresh way too. It’s all about balancing respect for the original with a new twist!

6. Looking ahead, what other themes or projects are you interested in exploring in your future music?

Looking ahead, apart from making people groove and shed some happy tears, I want to dive into all sorts of themes. Maybe I’ll write an anthem for those tragic moments when your favorite food stall is closed, or a romantic ballad dedicated to chai and samosas—because why not?

On a more serious note, though, I’m really excited to explore deeper themes like patriotic, emotional, and inspirational songs. I want to create music that touches the heart, stirs emotions, and maybe even makes people feel proud of where they come from. But hey, don’t be surprised if I throw in a quirky track about the battle of losing socks in the laundry either!
