The rumours that Shimit Amin is directing a film for Mira Nair and Yashraj Films are unfounded. At the moment he is stepping back to let his wife Megha Rawamswamy direct a film.
Megha, who had co-written the script of Bejoy Nambiar's "Shaitan", is directing a film that her intense husband would never dream of making.
"It's a teen horror flick entitled 'Girls' on the lines of Peter Weir's 'Picnic At Hanging Rock', but far more gruesome and targeted at a young market. Viacom 18 are producing it," said a source.
Shimit has directed films ike "Ab Tak Chappan", "Chak De India" and "Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year".
The reclusive Shimit, who last came out to edit Mira Nair's "The Reluctant Fundamentalist", has decided to take a backseat until his wife's film is completed and released.
Quite like R. Balki, who put his own career on hold while wife Gauri Shinde directed her first film "English Vinglish".
