Shabana Azmi reflects on love: "Javed and I have huge fights and want to kill each other but..."

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi recently opened up about her relationship with her husband Javed Akhtar and shared insights into her understanding of love. In a recent interview, she candidly revealed that despite having "huge fights" and moments of wanting to "kill each other," she and Javed deeply respect one another. The couple, who tied the knot in 1984, has cherished their relationship over the years. Prior to marrying Shabana, Javed was married to Honey Irani, with whom he shares two children, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar.

During her conversation with Filmfare, Shabana disclosed that she never considered herself a romantic person. Growing up, she observed her parents' marriage, which started with romance but evolved into a strong friendship. Consequently, she values friendship greatly and sees it as a vital component of love. Reflecting on her bond with Javed, the legendary actress shared that despite their occasional conflicts, mutual respect remains paramount. 

She emphasized the shared worldview they possess, both being children of parents with similar backgrounds who could have had an arranged marriage. Shabana noted the deep friendship they share, with Javed often referring to her as his best friend, a bond so strong that even marriage could not tarnish it.
