Shabana Azmi Reacts to her Viral Accident Pics: Reveals How Upset her Family was

Last month, veteran actress Shabana Azmi met with a deadly car accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra's Raigad district on January 18 afternoon. She was severely injured and was rushed to the nearby hospital from the accident spot, the MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai. Later, she was shifted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital.

This unfortunate incident had caused distress amongst the family members, who had been doing the rounds of the hospital to pay a visit to the actress. Soon after the accident, the pictures of an injured Shabana went viral all over the Internet.

In a recent interview, the National-Award winning actress revealed that her family was upset over the viral pictures. She told Hindustan Times, “My family was upset. It was kept away from me for the longest time as I didn’t have my cellphone. When I saw it, I was on my way to recovery. At that moment, I was just really grateful to those who helped me and the hospital staff.”

For the uninitiated, Shabana Azmi was returning from  Javed Akhtar’s birthday bash, which was held on January 17, 2020, when she met with the road accident. The incident took place around 3.30 pm near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai, when the car in which she was travelling along with her husband and noted veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, rammed into a truck and got crushed, said Raigad Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar.

The report adds that Shabana Ji is completely fine now and has fully recovered. Currently, she is in Budapest shooting for ‘Halo’ produced by Steven Spielberg. 

Besides, she will also be seen next in a movie on homosexuality titled ‘Sheer Qorma.’ Written and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, the movie also stars Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta.
