Kartik Aaryan's "Chandu Champion," hit the theaters a couple of days ago, captivating audiences with its inspiring story. This biographical sports drama, directed by Kabir Khan, delves into the life and challenges of India's first Paralympics gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar.
Veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar were among the prominent figures who attended a private screening of the film on Sunday, June 16. As they exited the venue, the couple shared their thoughts with the eager paparazzi.
Following its release on June 14, "Chandu Champion" has been drawing cinema lovers to theaters. Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar also joined the ranks of those who have enjoyed the film, attending a private screening.
When approached by the media after the screening, the duo was full of praise for the movie. Both agreed that it was a fantastic film, with Shabana Azmi remarking, "Mai toh ro-ro ke paagal ho gai aur Kartik ka kaam boht acha tha. Kabir ne boht acha kiya. Maine boht dino ke baad Kabir ki film dekhi aur usne pakad ke rakha second half pe bhi. (I couldn’t stop crying while watching the film and Kartik did a wonderful job. Kabir Khan did a fantastic job. It’s been long since I watched any of Kabir’s movies, and the story kept us engaged even in the second half.)”
Javed Akhtar nodded in agreement and added that the film’s narrative is incredibly inspiring. Shabana Azmi further commented that by creating this movie, the filmmakers have done a significant service to the industry, bringing to light a story that had been overlooked for years. She also mentioned that even Murlikant Petkar himself was moved to tears by the portrayal of his life on screen.
