Neha Sharma, seen in "Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story", says it is difficult to get a second chance in the Hindi film industry when an actor's debut film fails to work at the box-office.
The actress believes one needs to have a lot of patience to wait for good work to come his or her way.
"A lot depends on whether your first film does well or not, because people don't give you second chances. You need to struggle for every film, until you make a mark for yourself," Neha told IANS in an interview.
She admits "everyday is a struggle" for any "outsider" in the film industry.
"You don't know whether you would be able to sustain. If your first film fails, no one is ready to put money on you any further. But if you have faith in yourself, you will definitely make it," she added.
Neha made her Bollywood debut with 2010 film "Crook: Its Good To Be Bad", is slowly climbing up the stairs to success. After "Crook...", which did not do well at the box office, Neha was seen in a cameo in "Teri Meri Kahaani". She was later seen in "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" and most recently, she featured as main lead in "Jayanta hai Ki Luv Story".
Neha says it is important for a newcomer to understand the entire set up of the industry first.
"As an actor, there is so much more than just acting in the film. A lot of other things like networking and marketing is involved. You meet new people, which probably helps you get to audition for other films and I am still learning," she said.
"For someone new, who is not from the industry it is important to understand what is the set up and how to meet right kind of people," she added.
Acting was never on the mind of this fashion design graduate.
"Acting was never on my mind. I actually wanted to be a fashion designer. I was in my final year of college when what you say the 'beginner's luck' followed and some beautiful things happened," said Neha, who will soon be seen in "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2".
"Telugu film 'Chirutha' came my way and I realised that acting is what I want to do. Films are a platform where you can actually express so much. Something which you really don't have in your personality, you get to do it too, which is actually a lot of fun," she added.
