'Sadda Haq' actor Samarth Shandilya to turn producer & writer with passion project

Actor Samarth Shandilya has been on the tube for a while now and has dabbled in multiple mediums ranging from TV to web and other forms. The actor, however, is lately on a mission to make his passion project come into fruition for which he has already begun working.

For an actor or any creative person, inspiration works wonders and comes in the most unanticipated ways possible. For Shandilya, it has been the same where a small little instance that happened has transpired into him being him inspired and make it a reality. The actor has begun working on a docu-series on Dr. Narendra Kaushik, a plastic surgeon responsible for changing many lives - literally and metaphorically.

In a recent tell-all interview with us, Shandilya opened up on the entire process from being inspired about the show to now making it where he is even producing and writing it.

What can you tell us about the series and where can we expect it to be streaming on?

The series is a docu-series, where it is going to be probably in an episodic format with 15-20 minutes of runtime. It is a real-life story about a doctor hailing from India, who has done the most amount of operations when it comes to transgenders and sex-change operations. As known, it is one of the most complicated operations to perform and this doctor has won several awards and is considered amongst the best. We want a lot of people to see this and when it comes to where will be streaming - for now, I think it will be going on YouTube as one of the YouTube originals. But we are currently in the pre-production stage with this, so you never know.

What made you begin working on this project or what was your source of inspiration?

My father is an advocate is Delhi and Dr. Narendra Kaushik - on whom this series is based, is his client. There was this one day when I was with my father where we went down to see his hospital. He has clientele from USA, Bangladesh, Europe and Australia among other places. He changes lives. That is the one factor that inspired me to do this right away. It is magic in a way for the person involved in it and I wanted to create a show for everyone to see it.

What is the biggest challenge you think you will be facing as you begin work on it?

Coming to the biggest challenge I guess it will be the collection of videos and time differences. A I mentioned, the clientele is all across the world plus many of them wouldn't be comfortable revealing their identities. So, me and my technical team will have to figure out ways how to make it work. It is going to be a technical challenge and a time-consuming one. But I love challenges , so cannot wait to begin.
