Review: Krazzy 4 (2008)

Rakesh Roshan, the man who has made some realistic movies sure wasn't thinking logically when he decided to spend crores on this farcical attempt at comedy.

Rakesh Roshan, the man who has made some realistic movies sure wasn't thinking logically when he decided to spend crores on this farcical attempt at comedy. And a veteran like him also agreed to give crores again to the opportunist Mr. Ram Sampat so that the release date doesn't get shuffled. Sampat got lucky while RR lost the battle twice over.

The premise is outdated to the core and the execution, substandard. Comedy's got to make you laugh effortlessly, but that very thing is missing in this so called comic caper!

Crazy guys-Irrfan Khan, Suresh Menon, Rajpal Yadav, Arshad Warsi who suffer from various mental disorders are actually allowed to be taken for a therapy session by their star doctor in the institute (Juhi Chawla). As weird as it could get! The journey turns weirder when the good doctor gets kidnapped and it's up to the mad people to actually rescue her. They manage to find out that it's her hubby (Rajat Kapoor) who is involved in the crime. Things get easier for them when 'Mr. Angry' Arshad Warsi's ex girlfriend Diya Mirza who works in a news channel comes actually handy.

Everything so very convenient, with no reason and logic at all! That's 'Krazzy 4' for you. There are far too many clichés to take the steam out of the movie.

Writer Ashwini Dheer has been into comic TV stuff for years, but film writing's not his cup of tea. The recent '123' gave us indications and now, Krazzy 4 proves just that.

Irrfan Khan should stick to The Mighty Hearts and the Namesakes, and not try his hand at such krazy roles.

Being in a big banner film is the only gain for Arshad Warsi, Rajpal Yadav, Suresh Menon, Juhi Chawla, Diya Mirza. Otherwise, there is simply no scope at all for the talented actors to show their talents. Zakir Hussein plays the perfect joker villain.

And then there is SRK, in a forced item number. Rakhi Sawant gets another one of her usual item numbers. Hrithik Roshan's item comes much later, in the end credits. He looks stylish as usual. When the base is bad, no amount of polish on top is going to help. A film maker of the caliber of Rakesh Roshan should know this!!

Rajesh Roshan's music is a drab. No wonder Rakesh Roshan had to go for the 'Thump' tune. But it's just unfortunate that it backfired!
Rakesh Roshan's hopes that Jaideep Sen will deliver the goods remain just a hope now.

The production design, camerawork and other technicalities is quite poor. Doesn't suit the standards of a filmmaker like Rakesh Roshan who actually attempted superhero flicks!

Rakesh Roshan is better off with the Koi Mil Gayas and the Krisshs. Murdering comedy this way can never bag rewards!
