New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) Malini Agarwalla, Sonali Dalwani and Suhani Pittie have been regulars at the Accessory Show at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW), but this time they have given it a miss because of prior personal commitments. The Winter-Festive season of LFW is scheduled from Aug 16-21 in Mumbai.

Anjana Sharma, director Fashion, IMG Reliance, which organises the fashion fiesta, says its a common thing for the designers to take a break.

'The Accessory Show was conceptualised in 2006 and it has been very successful since its inception. Malini, Suhani and Sonali have participated season on season, however, it is common for designers to take a season break every now and then,' Sharma told IANS.

Accessory Show has been one of the high points of LFW with Malini, Sonali and Suhani showcasing exquisite, new designs every time under their labels Malaga, Crimzon and Suhani Pittie, respectively.

'I love doing Lakme and try not to miss any season. However, this time I had a personal commitment and therefore I was unable to take part in the show. I am working on a lot of different collections, which have been lined up for the coming months,' said Malini.

Suhani, who showed her collection to Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles at the Bal Samand Lake Palace, Jodhpur last year, says making a collection for fashion week needs lot of concentration and she couldn't do so because of paucity of time.

'In India the actual buying season picks up in August and during that period we work completely on sales, stalls and exhibition. I have six exhibitions lined up along with two shows so I thought let's give justice to that first,' she added.

For Sonali, LFW dates were not working out.

She said: 'I am busy with my prior commitments, also the dates were not working fine for me. My team is working on some shows and we are also developing new avenues so it takes all the time. I am just giving it a break this time.'

For the Winter-Festive season of LFW, scheduled from Aug 16-21 in Mumbai, the organisers have shortlisted 11 new faces for the accessory line up. Out of these, nine will put their stalls and rest will showcase their creation on ramp unlike previous season where more than three designers presented their creations on the runway.

'Many of these designers are fantastic, their work doesn't necessarily suit a show. This season we received over 30 applications for the Accessory Show,' said Sharma.
