OG Maa Sita actress Dipika Chikhlia unimpressed with Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been making news for all sorts of reasons. From the scale of the project to the tiff between producers and casting, it has been in the news. We are aware of how Om Raut’s Adipurush got panned all over India. Post that, people want Bollywood to stay away from religious epics. In a long interview, Dipika Chikhlia has spoken about how the idea of remaking Ramayan is not a very good one at the outset. She was talking about Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. The movie will come as a two-part epic and is directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
In an interview to a leading publication she said she is disillusioned by those who are doing one more remake of Ramayan as she feels it is not needed. She said that people are making a mess of it. The actress said that each time a new film comes, makers try to do something creative, which takes away the original essence.
Dipika Chikhlia said that Kriti Sanon was seen in a pink satin saree in Adipurush while Saif Ali Khan as Ravana sported a buzz cut and beard. She said people strive to be creative but end up ruining the epic. She was quoted as saying,
One should not tamper around with religious texts. I don't think one should be doing it and just leave it aside. Just don't do this.” She said that India is brimming with stories of unsung heroes whether it is in folklore, India’s freedom struggle and other spheres. She said it was pointless to remake Ramayan.
