Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri's film 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' was released on Friday, coinciding with Alia Bhatt's 'Jigra'. Both films had a lackluster opening day, but 'Vicky Vidya..' managed to perform slightly better than the Alia-starrer. This trend continued over the weekend, yet neither film experienced significant growth. They also did not gain much from the Dussehra holiday on Saturday.
After debuting at Rs 5.5 crore on Day 1, 'Vicky Vidya...' earned Rs 6.9 crore on Saturday, reflecting a growth of around 30 percent. However, on Sunday, it experienced a slight decline compared to Saturday's figures, making Rs 6.25 crore on day 3. Consequently, the total collection for the opening weekend stands at Rs 18.65 crore, as reported by Sacnilk.
On the other hand, 'Jigra' accumulated a total of Rs 16.75 crore over its first weekend. Although 'Jigra' had a higher growth percentage than 'Vicky Vidya...' on Saturday, it is not a mass-appeal film and primarily targets multiplex audiences. Therefore, it was anticipated that post the Dussehra holiday on Saturday, the Sunday figures would be lower.
No big movie is hitting screens until Diwali, when 'Singham Again' and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' come out. So, 'Jigra' and 'Vicky Vidya..' have a clear field until then and can make the most of it. Also, the classic 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' is making a comeback in theaters on October 18.
