Anubhav Sinha's fifth film to be shot in the city will have Rajkummar Rao playing the lead.
From Mulk, Article 15 to Thappad – director Anubhav Sinha is known to make impactful, hard-hitting, socially relevant films.
Sinha has allegedly roped in the powerhouse performer Rajkummar Rao for his next film.
Interestingly, this will be Rajkummar’s fourth film shoot in Lucknow after Behen Hogi Teri, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana and Bareilly Ki Barfi.
Titled 'Bheed', the film’s female lead is yet to be decided.
“We plan to begin shooting in Lucknow sometime in November,” says Sinha.
Not willing to disclose the story of the film, on why he’s chosen such a title, Sinha says,
“Bheed is one of those titles that the whole team jumps at the moment you propose it.”
This is the first time Sinha will be working with Rajkummar Rao for a film.
It was speculated that Ayushmann Khurrana will be playing the main role in Sinha's next film too.
Explaining his choice of actor for his film Anubhav says,
“To me Raj is a very intriguing actor. One of the very few actors who can be so successfully transparent in a story. There always was a keen desire to work with him. I’m really looking forward to it."
About shooting his films in Lucknow, Sinha had once told,
"Ab ek baar yahan shooting karne ke baad, aur kahan jaunga? I feel Lucknow is one of the best places to shoot a film. It feels like home. I know the places here, the people of Lucknow and there's a sense of belonging when I shoot here. Isliye baar-baar yahan aa jata hoon."
When asked him about Abhi Toh Party Shuru hui hai and the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Anek are going to release and the filmmaker says,
"I am looking for a theatrical release for both films. Especially Anek as there is beautiful cinematography in that film. We have some beautiful scenes of the North Eastern landscape in that film which I want to show on the big screen. It's a film that I am really proud of. I am really looking forward to the release of that film. And as usual, Ayushmann is brilliant in the film."
Meanwhile, Rajkummar has the Netflix thriller film Monica, O My Darling and the remake of the Telugu cop drama HIT.
He will also be seen in Hum Do Humare Do with Kriti Sanon and Badhaai Do with Bhumi Pednekar.
As per previous buzz, Rajkummar has been roped in for Raj & DK’s Netflix series, opposite Diljit Dosanjh.
