Tellybuzz got in touch with Karishma Tanna to know more about her acting profession and her upcoming movie which is slated to release soon…
How did you bag a role in Grand Masti?
Actually, prior to Grand Masti, I had been shooting with Vivek Oberoi for the movie 'Sher'. Consequently, as Vivek liked my work, he recommended my name to director Indra Kumar for Grand Masti. So, the entire credit goes to Vivek that I'm a part of this big project.
Tell us some about your character in the movie.
Well, my character is named as Unnati, married to Vivek Oberoi. Unnati is a business woman, who is very dominating and has control over her husband. As I'm portrayed as a busy working woman, my husband (Vivek Oberoi) suspects of me having an affair with my colleague.
Where is the entire movie shot?
Half of the movie is shot in Baroda, while the remaining half has been shot in Mumbai itself.
Grand Masti is an adult comedy, which is full of jokes and sexual connotation. Were you comfortable with all the scenes and dialogues?
Since it was an adult comedy, I found the scenes and dialogues too edgy. However, I adjusted to it with the right spirit, and I'm grateful to my co-stars for it. And at the end of the day I'm an actor who has to portray different characters and subject matter for the means of entertainment.
How was it working with all your co-stars?
It was brilliant working with all my co-stars. Yet, I shared the best bond with Vivek Oberoi and Ritesh Deshmukh. We used to have a gala time on the sets, even while we were not shooting. Generally, Riteish is entertaining but when he comes into his mood, he brings all the hilarious elements out and we all would go on a laughter spree.
You stepped into the acting profession at a very young age, has it proved to be an advantage to you?
Yes of course! I have been working in this industry since 10 years. So far throughout my journey, I've learnt a lot, grown as an actor and become more mature. I absolutely agree to it that stepping into the acting profession at an early age has proved to be a boon to me.
You were associated with Balaji Telefilms for a long time. Why are you not seen in any of their shows now?
Well, I haven't got any offers from Balaji Telefilms, lately. Yet, if at all Balaji approaches me for any interesting role, I would certainly take it up. I started my career with a Balaji show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and I'm very grateful to Ekta Kapoor for it. Needless to say, whatever I am today is all because of Ekta.
You possess a stunning height and looks of a model. Why did you not pursue modeling?
I wanted to pursue modeling, but every time I used to plan it, some more exciting projects came my way at the same time, incidentally.
What was the reason to quit your telly-show Baal Veer?
Like I said, I had been shooting for my movie 'Sher' and 'Grand Masti'. As a result, I couldn't manage time for the show and for that reason I had to quit Baal Veer.
After getting into films now, will you continue with your work in television?
Let's see. It depends on how does my filmy career develops.
As 'Grand Masti' is slated to hit the theater soon, are you ready for a crazy laughter riot?
