Tell us a bit about how you entered the world of television?
I was born and brought up in Punjab and was flying for Jet for a year. I did a reality show Zor Ka Jhatka and few short films and then finally Anamika which is my first television show.
In Anamika I am playing the role of Rano who is basically a very bubbly and happy go lucky girl. She is a very strong person and you will not see her cry for small issues, unlike other girls. Rano is a simple person who loves being chirpy and making everyone happy.
In the show a lot of mysterious things happen to Rano. Do you get scared while
shooting?
No not at all, I don't get scared of such things, but I have no idea weather these things exist or not with due respect for everything. We do shoot at night also but I don't get scared. In fact, I scare others, because I narrate spooky stories about sets and shooting scenes.
The role of Rano is not a glamorous role, she is very down to earth, do you relate to her?
There are a lot of similarities between Rano and Annie's personalities. In my real life too I am a very happy go lucky person who likes to bring a smile on other people's faces. I love talking and am a very honest person just like Rano. The only difference between the two of us is that she is an emotional person and isn't aware about the outside world while I live alone in Mumbai and am very practical.
Any show you watch or follow on television?
I don't follow any show because I do not get time even for my own show. I go home and watch it on the net. My make-up boy got some software on the phone so I call him and tell to switch on Sony TV. That is a way I have figured to watch the show on the sets.
Your hobbies when you are not shooting?
I love cycling and am a health freak. I cannot afford to miss my gym, but owing to my busy schedule I never find time to do so. Nevertheless, whenever I can make time I do go to the gym. In the show, Jeet has been shown boxing and we have his dumbbells on the sets. I use them to exercise in my room. Apart from that whenever I have time while shooting, I read books. I am very fond of reading crime mysteries. I love cooking, especially punjabi food.
How is your bonding with Mudit Nayyar on sets?
Mudit is a very good actor and I am very grateful that I get to work with good actors because then it is like a give and take association. It makes the chemistry better and also increases the comfort level on the sets and enhances your performance too. Even off the sets we talk a lot and we are friends. We have a lot of fun together and are like a whole family. He has a great sense of humour and we keep joking around . I feel like home on the sets. Mudit is a very scared person. Once there was a incident when I told Mudit that I heard something around the set while shooting and it might be some spirit. He immediately ran out of the sets and stalled the shoot. So then I had to ensure that I joke with him only before of after the shoot is over.
What is your relationship status?
I am very much single. I have no idea how to even go out and meet someone but I am very filmy. I believe that someone somewhere is made for you. I am a victim of all the romantic movies I have seen since childhood. I am sure there will be someone for me too. However right now I am very happy being single.
Acting is a great profession because...?
Because there is so much to do. I get to don many looks, wear great clothes and perform with a challenge each day.
I get to play different scenes everyday, sometime emotional, while chirpy at the others and sometimes sweet, so its like portraying different emotions in one day itself. I believe it helps me grow each day in my personal life and learn so much too. This challenge keeps an actor alive.
