Tell us about your character in Gutakh Dil.
My character in Gustakh Dil is named as Meera, a simpleton girl from the village who is married to Meghna Malik's brother. Even though Meera is donning a contemporary Bahu look for her outer appearance, her inner personality is as yet in a much-rural mode. Meera is always suppressed by her mother-in-law, who is quite dominating and modern in nature.
Have you worked with any of your co-stars earlier?
No! This is the first time I'm working with all of them and it's indeed a great experience working with such a brilliant team. Sachin Verma, who is playing my husband's role, is doing an amazing job. Meghna Malik is wonderful as a person and Anita who is my Saasu Maa is a great lady to work with.
How do you find the concept of the show?
Gustakh Dil follows a very different concept with a promising approach to a stereotypical love triangle which we have been observing on the television from quite a long time. The presentation of the entire concept is very well executed is what I can say from the positive response that we have been getting up till now.
You have always been appreciated for your negative characters in your past shows. What made you take up a positive role?
I am in no way glorifying the negative characters but I believe that for an actor it is one of the greatest high to play a grey shaded role.
Is playing a positive character a challenge for you?
An artist who has already established her forte by consecutively portraying the role of a vamp will obviously find it a bit hard to mold into a completely opposite avatar. However, I find it much easier to play a grey character than a sweet one. Since, this is the first time I'm featured in a positive role, it is a challenge for me to live up to the nature of the character and illustrate it without any flaw.

As per my experience, I personally think that negative characters are more fun to play. Having a glance at the present scenario of the Indian television, mostly every female lead is seen playing a bechari bahu who has to tackle all the odds of the family and the society. I don't want to be a bechari, whereby in a negative role, you have many opportunities to modify and enhance the character and add more sub-characteristics to it. Recently, I even shot for an episodic for Savdhaan India @ 11, where I played a much-desired negative character and I finally had a sigh of relief. I am dying to play a negative role now. (Laughs)
Do you feel contended with the screen space you are getting at present?
Absolutely! I'm glad with the way my character is shaping up and the screen presence I am getting at the moment.
How is your character going to shape up in the near future?
Well, like I said I'm playing the role of a very simple woman. In the forthcoming track of the story, my character will be established more on the path of supporting Lajjo (Sana Amin Sheikh). There is also a back-story to Meera's character which will be exposed at the right time.
Do you admire anybody in a negative character?
Nobody from our television industry because I believe I am the best when it comes to playing a negative character. And from Bollywood, I just loved Shah Rukh Khan's flawless acting in his film Baazigar.
