Priyanka Chopra's New York restaurant Sona to close after three successful years

Priyanka Chopra, celebrated for her multifaceted career spanning acting, producing, and entrepreneurship, ventured into the restaurant business with Sona in New York alongside Maneesh Goyal in 2021. However, she parted ways with the venture a few months ago.

Now, Sona, renowned for its modern take on Indian cuisine, is preparing to cease operations after a successful run. The announcement of its closure was made through social media channels, with the final brunch service scheduled for June 30.

On Instagram, a statement was shared marking the end of Sona's journey almost a year after Priyanka Chopra's departure. Released on June 19, the statement expressed gratitude for the support received over the past three years, stating, 

"After more than three remarkable years, Sona will be closing. We have immense gratitude for everyone who walked through our doors. It’s been our greatest honour to serve you."

The announcement continued, "SONA’s final service will be brunch on Sunday, June 30."

Following Priyanka's departure from Sona two years after its inception, reports suggested possible differences with her business partner, Maneesh. However, it was clarified that despite her exit from the venture, Priyanka's influence remained integral to Sona. While no longer involved creatively, she continues to be part of the Sona family.

A statement from Priyanka’s representatives last year underscored her pride in bringing Sona to life, emphasizing her commitment to promoting Indian culture through various storytelling mediums, whether film, TV, or culinary arts.

The restaurant launched with great fanfare three years ago, marked by an Indian puja ceremony attended by Priyanka and her husband, Nick Jonas. Over time, it became a favored dining spot among celebrities such as Mindy Kaling, Vicky Kaushal, and Katrina Kaif.
