As anticipation builds for Stree 2, producer Dinesh Vijan announced on Thursday that the next chapter of his acclaimed horror-comedy franchise is ready and will hit theaters soon. The original Stree, released in 2018, captivated audiences with its tale of a small town haunted by a female ghost, becoming an instant box office and critical success. Its popularity gave rise to Vijan's horror-comedy universe, which now includes titles like Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya.
Pankaj Tripathi is set to return in Stree 2, starring alongside Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. With a career spanning over two decades, Tripathi has experienced both hits and misses at the box office. In a recent interview with News 18, the seasoned actor discussed his approach to the industry and his commitment to ensuring that producers recover their investments.
"Not at all," Tripathi responded when asked if he feels bad about unsuccessful films. "When I know that I gave my 100 percent and stayed true to my craft, why should I feel bad about it? I know the math."
For the unversed his, recent film Mai Atal Hoon did not perform well at the box office. He emphasized his understanding of the box office dynamics, noting that all his films, regardless of their commercial success, have eventually managed to repay the producers.
Despite occasional setbacks in theaters, Tripathi remains a dominant figure in the OTT space. He was last seen in the third season of the popular Prime Video series Mirzapur, where he plays the formidable character Kaleen Bhaiya. In the same interview, the National Award-winning actor explained what drew him to this role: "The man isn’t a traditional don and neither is he power-hungry or aggressive." Tripathi aimed to showcase a different side of dons, challenging the stereotypes often portrayed in movies.
Stree 2 is set to clash with Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein at the box office on August 15 this year, promising an exciting showdown for fans of both actors.
