Original 'Masti' to return after 20 years: Vivek, Aftab & Riteish to be retained as the leads

It will be two decades of probably the propellers of adult comedy in mainstream commercial films - since the release of Masti (2004). Masti came in as a breath of fresh air almost twenty years ago and even kickstarted the careers of Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh right away. The film turned out to be a huge success at the box office and following that, after over nine years, the sequel of the film came in the form of Grand Masti in 2013.

The sequel went on to shock and surprise everyone as the film, at that time, was the highest-grossing A-rated film till it was overtaken by Kabir Singh in 2019. The third film of the franchise, Great Grand Masti, came in rather early as well in 2016 but unlike its predecessors, it was a huge box office failure.

But now, after all these years, it is being reported that the series is all set to come back with Masti 4. However, unlike the first three films, this fourth instalment will be directed and written by Milap Zaveri under Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria's production banner.

A source told ETimes that the original men - Oberoi, Shivdasani and Deshmukh will be retained as the male leads, but the leading ladies are yet to be finalised.

As known, the first three films were directed by Indra Kumar. When it comes to the three men and their work - Oberoi will next be seen in the web series Indian Police Force on Prime Video. Shivdasani has been rather absent and was last seen in the web series Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story back in 2021 Deshmukh is extremely busy as he has two films up for release in 2024 that include Kakuda and Visfot apart from being in Housefull 5. Deshmukh is also busy with his home productions in the Marathi language.
