The fight between Kapil Sharma and a journalist of a portal became quite ugly. In a recording that went viral, Kapil can be heard abusing the journalist. However, it was also repeated in the recording that Kapil has gone into quite a depression due to negative articles on him on a particular website.
Telly actors share their take on the issue, how they would have reacted and how a good PR team is the need of the hour.
Ssharad Malhotraa:No one likes to read negative news about themselves, but then as an actor, you need to be indifferent. A good PR saves your time and energy and is a good reality check. Having the right PR is crucial to your career as well.
Ruhi Chaturvedi:Being an actor comes with lots of do's and don'ts. But at the end, even we are normal people. Just because we are actors, lots of things are blown out of proportion. With God's grace, I have never got any negative publicity. But even if one does, it's a part and parcel of our professional life. Everyone pays a price for being famous. Yes, a good PR team helps you in sprucing things up.
Honestly, I try to avoid reading negative things written about me anywhere. I never let it affect me. Especially, when I am working, I have a rule of not using the phone. In today's times, where people have so many different platforms on social media to criticize you, I feel ignorance is the best tool you can use. If I am in a situation like this, I would not react and would just keep quiet because eventually, the truth will be out. A publicist will help you control damage and guide you how to handle situations like these.Initially, it would affect me, but eventually I realized that whether it's good news or bad news, people forget it after a week. The one who has done it and faced it only remembers, the rest of the world forgets. I really don't care what people talk about me, because you cannot stop them. It will not affect you and your career because what's written in your destiny will happen. People who really know you, will not judge you anyway. I don't allow anything to affect me emotionally as far as it is not too personal. If I would have been in this situation, I would have ignored it. Also, having a good PR team they will help you to handle the situation in a better.
Aniruddh Dave:Every journalist who is writing a story has the freedom of speech and we cannot tell him anything. When it comes to a situation like this, it's important to know what is the actor's state of mind and mental state. As a matter of fact, actors are more emotional than others and according to me an actor who is not emotional cannot be an artist. I am not saying that either of them is wrong or right, as we don't know the mental state and situations they are going through, but it should not have been dragged so much. If I read something negative about myself, I would self-analyze and then try to not repeat that again. Having a good PR team helps because sometimes you cannot convey things as you are not in that state of mind but your publicist will handle as he knows you in and out.
First and foremost, I try not to read anything negative that's written about me and if I do read it anywhere, I immediately delete it. At the end of the day, these people are virtual friends and strangers to me in real life, so what anybody has to say about me really doesn't affect me at all. But yes, if things are out of control and something has happened in public, having a good PR team definitely helps for damage control.
Ignorance is bliss when it comes to negativity. I don't wish to comment on this situation but as an actor, all I can say is that a good PR team always helps. PR contributes in making a great career and taking charge in crisis management.
