Massive lagoons in infinite shades of blue and turquoise. Dazzling underwater coral gardens. That's Maldives, Jennifer Winget's favorite holiday destination. The Republic of Maldives is made up of 1,200 coral islands, 202 of which are inhabited. Located 600 km southwest of Sri Lanka, the entire country is grouped into 19 administrative blocks. The islands are less than two meters above sea level, and thus, susceptible to the effects of global warming. However, the same geographical feature has also gifted it booming fishing and tourism industries.

It was during one of my shows that I visited Maldives, which I call "heaven on earth". It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I can never forget the time that I had spent there. That's also because my performance there went off very well. The turnout and the reaction of the crowd were unexpected.

The islands are extremely beautiful. I love water and that's another reason I am so obsessed with this place. Then the cleanliness and the serene atmosphere are beyond words, especially at night when you can actually see beneath the surface of the water. The blue and green colour of the sea lends the place a fairyland look.

I was put up at a luxury resort hotel on Dhonakulhi Island. Set at an unrivalled tropical paradise, their restaurant Hideaway was remarkable. I had prawns there and since then, whenever I have prawns I invariably compare the two.

Although I was lucky that my work took me to Maldives, unfortunately I couldn't explore the place much as I stayed there for just three days. There are plenty of options for water sports lovers there but I didn't get to try out any. That is why I am determined to go there again and have a blast. For shopping freaks, there are is an amazing variety of accessories available in the market.

The only flip side about Maldives is that it is a bit expensive. But even then, it would be more than worth it for honeymooners. Language is not a barrier as almost everyone speaks English. Just carry lots of free-flowing clothes, and no sweaters please, to let your body soak in Nature at its best.
