Dharma Prductions's We Are Family
is about two women trying make one home happy. There is western
lifestyle feel to the movie, with an Indian overall polishing to fit the
target audience. Music directors Shankar Ehsaan Loy have credit proving
history - so expectations stand high. Whether or not they make it, read
on to know!
The album opens with the smooth melody, Aankho Mein Neendein, sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Goshal. It is a beautiful track, reflective of of Shakar Ehsaan Loy's previous works - Mitwa (KANK) and Sajda (MNIK). However, despite the resounding semblance, the song retains enough individuality. Both Rahatji and Shreya give the lyrics a soul. Overall, a good start to the album.
Next comes, Dil Kho Ke Let's Rock, a track high on its masti quotient.
The singers for this track are well chosen for its mood - Anushka
Manchanda, Suraj Jagan and Akriti Kakkar give it exactly the
live-it-up-in-style feel that it ought to have! The piano score in the
first interlude is amazing. This song marks Shaknar Ehsaan Loy's tribute
to Elvis's Jailhouse Rock. And on that account, although the vocals are pepped up and punk, they fall short of the Elvis bar.
Next in the queue is Vishal Dadlani and Shankar Mahadevan's Reham O Karam.
The lyrics are a winner for this track. It starts off with a slow piano
score in the background and gradually builds a pace on its notes.
Vishal and Shankar deliver their best of the album with this soulful
rendition!
Hamesha and forever
by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Goshal is another track we approve.
Sonu-Shreya duet singing has been in vogue in quite a long time. With Hamesha and forever
they make no exception to that standing. A beautiful composition with a
soft and touching background score. The vocals are feeling, and
evocative while delivering the essence of the lyrics. DOn't miss this
one!
Bela Shende's Sun Le Dua
is something like an unplugged track, with minimum background score.
Bela lives it up with her lingering vocals. The lyrics are well done.
Finally, We are family theme is the kind of instrumental track you can listen to for hours at the end without tiring!
The film offers bonus tracks in the form of past chartbusters, including Noor-E-Khuda, Aaj Kal Zindagi, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Kal Ho Naa Ho.
Overall,
the album gets a thumbs up! Aptly chosen background singers, and well
composed stuff from the shining musical trio. Nothing out of the
ordinary, but impressive nonetheless!
