Ganpati Bappa Morya.. this is what all of us would be singing from today onwards for 11 days.. The wait is over, everyone's favorite god has come home as we wish every year by saying 'pudhchya varshi laukar yaa'. From today the feasting begins and the fasting is over. People get lord Ganesha's idols to their homes, decorate the houses, cook delicious food, offer yummy modaks to the elephant god and keep him happy for as many as a day and a half, three days, five days or even 11 days.
Most of the places in Maharashtra, Gujarat and parts of country will be dazzling with colorful light, buzzing with energy. The air will be filled with devotion and celebrations. Kids are looking forward to enjoy mouth-watering sweets and holidays. Elders will be engrossed in 'aartis and offerings'. Beloved Ganesha is all set to accept the prayers of millions of his devotees not that he does not for the rest of the year but these are the special days when he is the center of everyone's world.
We asked our very own actors from the television industry about Ganeshotsav and their favorite aspect about it.
Arjun Bijlani
How old will your Ganpati turn this year?
We have been getting Ganpati over since 17-18 years.
What's the theme that you have chosen this year?
There is no such theme, we have made a mandap and decorated it with flowers and lights.
One wish you asked from Ganpati, which was fulfilled.
I always ask him pudhya varshi laukar yaa.
One childhood memory about Ganapti festival.
It's been 5 years that we get Ganesha at our place.
What's the theme that you have chosen this year?
We will obviously get an eco-friendly Ganpati. And usually I like cute Ganpatis, ones reading books or wearing spectacles. Basically I am fond of cute baby Ganpatis.
One wish you asked from Ganpati, which was fulfilled.
I wished to be an actor and here I am. He has always fulfilled my wishes. Since I am not keeping well this time, I will ask him to give me good health.
One childhood memory of Ganpati festival.
I remember, when I was small, my mother used to make a lot of laddoos and five kind of sweets at home. Once it happened that all the laddoos disappeared. So, I asked my mother where the laddoos went and she told me that Ganpati had eaten all, when we all fell asleep in the night.
Your favorite part about Ganpati festival.
My dad was a government officer and we lived in government quarters then, so we had these cultural activities like dancing and singing during the ten days of Ganpati festival. I remember bunking my school for these ten days just to participate in the dance and signing programs.
And now, the best part about Ganpati festival is that when he is home, it feels like there is someone at home and we offer food and sweets to him, he becomes a part of the family, and once he leaves the house feels empty all of a sudden. But having him in the house is my favorite part about the entire festival.

How old will your Ganpati turn this year?
My Ganpati will be 3 years old this year.
What's the theme that you have chosen this year?
There is no theme as such since I don't do it on a big scale due to lack of time.
One wish you asked from Ganpati, which was fulfilled.
Actually Ganpati has always fulfilled all my wishes, and every year it's a different wish.
One childhood memory of Ganpati festival.
I was in Grade 6 when I came to Mumbai and the tuition teacher I use to go to use to get Ganpati at her place. I don't remember what I had asked for but, my wish was fulfilled and I remember offering him 11 coconuts after that.
Your favorite part about Ganpati festival.
My favorite part about Ganpati festival is that all my wishes come true, he has always fulfilled them.

5. Your favorite part about Ganpati festival.
Ganpati Bappa himself is my favorite part. The joy of having him in the house, the festivities, the celebrations, the guests, the decorations in fact the whole process of celebrating his presence in the house is beautiful and memorable for me. And, this time it's much more special, since my son will also be a part of this celebration.
