First in our hot seat, we have someone who is well known name in the music circuit. Her songs are soothing to the ears and is often fondly known as the modern nightingale of India. We're talking about none other than the melodious diva, Shreya Ghoshal.
Ghoshal started her
journey in music at an early age where she took part in the popular music
contest called Sa Re Ga Ma Pa as a child. She previously sung various songs
in Bengali but it wasn't until she took part in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for the second time as an adult, that she won
recognition, fame and a direct ticket into Bollywood.
Her career as a playback singer started with the hit movie Devdas,
where she was offered to be the voice of Paro (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan),
the female lead. She lent her vocals for a total of five songs for that
movie and each
song became a huge hit, along with earning her recognition from all
over the industry. Her first song from the magnum opus, "Bairi Piya",
earned her a National Award. Such a prestigious award at the age of 18
is an extremely commendable event. Ghoshal was also being nominated for
other several awards such as the Filmfare Award, IFFA Award, as well as
the RD Burman Award of New Music Talent for various other songs she sung
in the film.
Thereafter, offers started pouring in. Ghoshal can also sing in many languages including; Bengali, Telugu, Bhojpuri,
Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Assamese
and Hindi. Not confined to only Bollywood, her the singing sensation is also a
big name in the South where she originally started her
singing career.
