Life OK's all new venture with all new unique concept has won the hearts of many with the thrill and suspense involved in the show. Adita Wahi who essays the character of Sonali Swaika in the show speaks to us about her characterization, how did she bag the show, fun with co-stars and much more. Read on!
How did Laut Aao Trisha happen to you?
Literally the makers dug me out of nowhere. We they called me up for casting, I was in New York for a month. So when I came back I gave them a call but they said the casting is already done. Later, after a few days, I got a call from them for the Sonali's role. So that's how Laut Aao Trsiha happened. For me the show is just amazing - be it the star cast or the crew off cameras, first time a lady director, a lady producer (Nandita Mehra and Bhairavi Raichura) I think that should be applauded. Undoubtedly, this show is a turning point in my career.
What kept you away from television?
I was last seen in Mata Ki Chowki of Swastik Productions but post that I was also approached for some mythological shows. But somehow I could not connect and relate with the character that I would portray and also getting that shudh Hindi dialect was kind of difficult for me. Most of the mythological shows are shot outside Mumbai, so I was not sure on shooting out of Mumbai.
And in 2011, unfortunately I met with a very bad accident. I got burned neck down. I was trying to make soup for my niece who had come down from US because she was unwell. I put that hot bowling soup in the mixture and I switched it on. Thankfully I did not burn my face. It took about a year to heal. So, yea the break happened because of that and then I got a little out of circuit as well.
How enjoyable was shooting in Goa?
We are having a ball of time. Everyone is getting along with each other really well. Specially, I share a really good rapport with Bhagyashree Patwardhan because we shoot more often. Although more because we started shooting in Goa, we all bonded very well. So the first five episodes that the audience saw were shot in Goa. We shot there for a good one week-ten days so we get along really well. And obviously you wake up, you have breakfast together and then you shoot a little, lunch with them so we bonded really well. In Mumbai if you are shooting then most of the time you are in your make up room during your lunch breaks and stuff. In Goa, after pack up we used to go out and try some new restaurants and clubs. Now that we have bonded well, it is easier to understand each other on the sets as well. We have a great time together.
How is your bonding with your co-actors?
I have a very friendly bond with entire cast and obviously a very jovial and friendly rapport with Jiten Lalwani who plays my husband. Other than him Jai Kalra and Bhagyashree are people I chat with in between shots. I am very fond of Bhagyashree and she has been extremely friendly and helpful. She gives me useful pointers and tips and sometimes gives suggestions on my Jewellery and so. Overall I know she has best intentions for me and aside from being a lovely person is a great friend.
The show will see some good twist coming up. What are they?
My character in the show Sonali, so far been a chilled person who took everything casually and was caught up with her ex who turned out to be gay, now that is over and after all that has happened with Vivaan (Karan Jotwani), with Pratik and Amrita she will be seen taking a stand for her son, even if that means standing up to Pratik and Amrita. She plays a big hand in supporting her husband Gaurav in standing up for what's right. So definitely a lot of clashes to be expected in the family, lot of equations will undergo change.
Anything to your fans...
For all those people who are watching me and our show Laut Aao Trisha, a big thanks for the love and appreciation and would encourage them to continue watching and spreading the word. It's always a risk to do something that's not been done before and to tread in untested waters and their support means a lot. We hope to not let them down and will put in our best so they continue loving our show. I also want to thank them for showing love and support on Facebook and welcoming me on twitter (I joined recently) and want them to freely give feedback on any of these networking sites.
We wish Adita Wahi all the luck for her future.
