The Indian Premier League (IPL) season is on and all eyes and minds are glued to the screens. Cricket fans can’t afford to miss any action, be it batters hitting boundaries, bowlers taking wickets or the fabulous catches. The scene is no different in Kiku Sharda’s home. With both his sons ‘Aryan and Shaurya’ giving him company, the actor-comedian enjoys watching the sport all the more. Taking his love for cricket forward and providing the much-needed comic relief amid the growing tension in a game, Kiku has donned a new avatar. He plays the role of a ‘Bhoot’ in PlayerzPot’s IPL ‘Cricket ka Bhoot’ campaign and represents all the cricket fanatics suffering from the IPL fever. But, when he is not easing your tension, he is watching the matches with his sons.

“I am quite a fan of the sport but I don’t play much and that’s pretty evident from my fitness (jokes). This avatar of mine is very different in both its approach and appearance. It was also very exciting for me to share screen space with a sports star like Bhuvi. The idea and the script are very apt and interesting, given our love for cricket, especially IPL. What I enjoy the most these days is watching cricket with my boys. I was quite a fan of cricket anyway, but my kids now are huge IPL fans and followers. They know much more about IPL, teams, formats and all, than I do*. So now the three of us in the house are quite crazy about cricket,” he says

Sharing a fun story from his growing up days, Kiku adds, “My kids actually joke about this at home. So, in school, I tried to play cricket but was not really good at it and never got selected in my school team. Therefore, I used to sponsor cold drinks for the entire team, which is why they made me the manager. They did not need a manager, but I wanted to be one of them, enjoy the game and this also allowed me to bunk classes and hang out with the team. So, yes, I was the team manager who literally did nothing (laughs).”

However, these days Kiku does try to play with both his sons, but he is not that successful it seems. “I do step out of the house with my kids to indulge in some cricket sometimes but I don’t really extensively play. Also, since my kids have grown up they want to play with their own age group and not me. Plus I am not the fittest guy to play cricket with and they want their friends in their team and not me,” he says

The ‘Cricket ka Bhoot’ campaign is being aired on both Disney + Hotstar, short video platforms along with PlayerzPot’s social media channels. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Brand ambassador of PlayerzPot, is seen as ‘PlayerzPot Baba’ alongside Kiku Sharda’s ‘Bhoot’. Put your thinking hat on and Join the 1 crore+ PlayerzPot family now!
