It’s just a few days until every Mumbaikar will celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with their family and friends. Everyone is excited for the festival as not only will they get to eat delicious food, especially sweets, but they will also visit various households and pandals for Bappa’s blessings. When it comes to Ganapati celebrations, the Kapoor Khandaan’s has never shied away from celebrating this festival on a grand scale. Their celebrations are always considered as one of the best in the city.
The Kapoor’s have been celebrating Ganeshotsav as a ritual for the past 70 years, and not only does it see a huge number of people coming in from all over Chembur to participate, it also brings every member of the Kapoor family together to celebrate the festivities and dance at visarjan. From Kareena Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor’s father Randhir Kapoor to his brothers Rishi and Rajeev including Ranbir Kapoor would be present at the occasion.
But, as per a report in Bombay times, the Kapoor’s have decided not to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi anymore, as the venue where the festival takes place, the RK Studios has been demolished and they don’t have a place to celebrate that same way they did before.
Randhir Kapoor, while talking to Bombay Times shared that previous year’s celebration was the last Ganesh Chaturthi celebration for them. The tradition which was started 70 years ago by Randhir Kapoor’s father Raj Kapoor has come to an end. He said, “We all love Bappa and have immense faith in him, but I guess, we can’t continue with the tradition anymore.”
