Kangana Ranaut, the actor who turned politician, sparked controversy once more when she recommended reinstating the three farm reform laws that were revoked due to farmers' protests. Facing backlash from the BJP, the Mandi Lok Sabha MP publicly apologized, stating, "I retract my statement."
The BJP clarified on Tuesday that Kangana Ranaut is "not authorized" to speak on behalf of the party, distancing itself from her statements.
In a video message, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia mentioned that Kangana Ranaut's comments are her "personal statement" and do not reflect the party's position on the farm bills.
Gaurav Bhatia said, “I want to make it clear that this statement is a personal statement of her. Kangana Ranaut is not authorised to make such a statement on behalf of BJP and it doesn’t depict BJP’s view on the farm bills. We disapprove of this statement."
Following backlash from her party, the BJP MP issued a public apology, expressing, "My remark has disappointed several people."
"I need to remind myself that I am no longer just an actor, I am a politician too, and my opinions should not be personal, but a reflection of the party," she stated.

However, in a previous post, the BJP MP stated, "My opinions on the Farmers Laws are personal and do not reflect the party's stance on those Bills. Thanks," (sic).
In the meantime, the Congress referred to Kangana's statements and claimed that the ruling party was attempting to reintroduce the three laws that were revoked in 2021, stating that Haryana would respond strongly to it.
The three laws — Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act; and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act — got scrapped in November 2021. The farmers’ protest kicked off towards the end of November 2020 and wrapped up after Parliament revoked the three laws. These laws became effective in June 2020 and were annulled in November 2021.
